Custom Software · Richmond Hill & GTA

Custom software and online stores, built around how you actually work.

Off-the-shelf software rarely fits a real business. We design, build, and support custom web applications and e-commerce sites that match your workflow — not the other way around.

In short

MainIT builds custom business software and online stores for small businesses — customer portals, booking and inventory systems, staff dashboards, and full e-commerce. We recently built a complete optical-retail platform for a client: an online store, a customer portal for prescriptions and orders, and a staff workspace for stock, vision tests, and lens-cutting jobs.

What we build

Software shaped to your business

Web applications & portals

Customer portals, booking systems, dashboards, and internal tools that replace spreadsheets and manual steps.

Online stores & e-commerce

Storefronts with cart, checkout, real stock control, and orders — connected to the way you actually fulfil and get paid.

Data migration & integration

We move your existing customers, products, and history in cleanly, and connect the new system to email, payments, and Microsoft 365.

Case study: a custom optical-retail platform, end to end

Optical-retail store — the kind of business we built a custom platform for

An optical retailer needed one system to run the whole business instead of a till, a spreadsheet, and paper files. We built it.

  • Online store — frames, sunglasses, reading glasses and contacts, filterable, with a live frame preview and lens-option picker.
  • Customer portal — clients log in to see their prescriptions, exam history, and order status.
  • Staff workspace — a dashboard for open orders and low stock, inventory with a full movement audit trail, in-store order taking, vision-test records, and lens-cutting jobs.
  • Clean migration — years of existing customers and product data imported into the new system.

Stock is protected against overselling with transactional row-locking, and online and in-store orders share one inventory. It runs on affordable managed hosting.

What it replaced

A separate point-of-sale, manual stock counts, spreadsheet customer lists, and paper prescriptions — consolidated into a single system the whole team uses, with the store open online 24/7.

How we work

From idea to running software

  1. 01

    Map the workflow

We learn how your business actually runs and agree on exactly what the software must do — with fixed pricing before any build.

  2. 02

    Build in stages

You see working software early and give feedback as it grows, so it ends up matching how you work.

  3. 03

    Migrate & launch

We import your existing data, test it, deploy to reliable hosting, and train your team.

  4. 04

    Support & improve

We stay on to fix, host, and extend the system as your business changes.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you only build for optical shops?

No. That optical-retail platform is one example, but we build custom software for any small business — retail, services, clinics, trades. If your work involves customers, inventory, bookings or orders, we can build a system around it.

Can you migrate our existing data?

Yes. Moving existing customers, products, and history into the new system is part of what we do — we did exactly that for the optical-retail platform we built.

Will we own the software?

Yes. You own your system and your data, and it runs on hosting you control. There’s no per-seat licence trap.

Can it connect to Microsoft 365, payments, or our website?

Yes. We integrate custom software with email, Microsoft 365, payment providers, and your existing website so everything works together.

How much does custom software cost?

It’s scoped and fixed-price after a free consultation, and we build in stages so cost tracks value. Smaller tools start modestly; full platforms are quoted to the workflow.
