In short: WordPress’s default mail often lands in spam or vanishes. We built a custom plugin, MainIT SMTP, that routes all WordPress email through Brevo or SMTP2GO and logs every message with its real delivery status.
The problem
Out of the box, WordPress sends mail with PHP’s mail() function — no authentication, poor deliverability, and no record of what was sent. Contact forms, invoices and notifications quietly fail, and nobody knows until a customer says “I never got your email.”
What we built
- Two provider profiles — Brevo and SMTP2GO — with an active-provider switch, so you can fail over or change vendor without touching code.
- A proper email log in the dashboard: every message with recipient, subject, provider and status.
- Real delivery tracking. SMTP acceptance only proves the server took the message, so the plugin tags each email and receives provider webhooks — updating each row to delivered, opened, bounced or spam.
- A test-send button and daily log purging with a retention setting.
Why it matters
You get email that actually arrives, plus an audit trail when someone asks “did it send?” It is the same approach we use for our own email deliverability service.
